Request for Expression of Interest for Consultancy Services – Water Quality Monitoring Programme and Protocol

Consultancy:
i. Preparation of a Comprehensive National Water Quality Monitoring Programme and Protocol.
ii. Implement a Water Quality Monitoring Programme in one of the six KBAs to assess aquatic threats to freshwater biodiversity.
iii. Revision and Updating of the Department of the Environment and the Coastal Zone Management Authority’s Water Quality Laboratory Manual.

The Government of Belize with the assistance of the World Bank is implementing the project entitled “Management and Protection of Key Biodiversity Areas in Belize (KBA)” with Grant funding from the Global Environment Facility “GEF” and has appointed the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry the Environment and Sustainable Development (MAFFESD) for the overall implementation of the Project with the fiduciary support provided by the Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT).

KBA and PACT now invite eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. In submitting its Expression of Interest, a firm should provide information demonstrating that it has the required and relevant experience to perform the Services. The shortlisting criteria are:

1. The firm’s experience in conducting similar assignments.
2. A member of the firm has at least a Bachelor’s Degree in an Environmental Chemistry or related science with 5 years of experience in water quality monitoring for biological and habitat monitoring including methodologies, manual and protocol development and laboratory protocol and procedures.
3. The firm has a Biologist with at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or aquatic ecology or related field with 5 years of experience in ecological assessment.
4. Experience in the natural resource management sector in Belize is an asset.

Expressions of Interest must be submitted in the English language and emailed to procurementofficer@pactbelize.org by 4:00 pm on Monday, 7th January 2019.

The sealed envelope containing the Expression of Interest must include the name and address of the applicant and should be clearly marked with the title of the consultancy for which they are applying.

PACT shall not be bound to defray any costs incurred by applicants in preparing and submitting statements of capability.
