PACT Contributes $150,000 to Aid the Government of Belize in Ongoing Hurricane Recovery Efforts

“PACT Contributes $150,000 to Aid the Government of Belize in Ongoing Hurricane Recovery Efforts

December 6, 2022 — (Belmopan, BZE) The Protected Areas Conservation Trust is providing financial support to the Government of Belize’s Hurricane recovery efforts, worth a total value of $150,000.00. This contribution is being made as part of PACT’s Corporate Social responsibility and will support ongoing actions towards recovery and restoration following the passage of Hurricane Lisa.

This instance of financial support for Hurricane Relief joins other similar grants to the Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association, The Belize Audubon Society, The University of Belize, Programme for Belize, The Belize Zoo and Tropical Education Center, the Community Baboon Sanctuary, the Belize Fisheries Department, and the Belize Coast Guard. In total, PACT has granted $500,000.00 to its partners for the purpose of Hurricane Relief efforts.

With the core values of Leadership, Collaboration, and Good Stewardship in focus, PACT has pledged continued support to the Government of Belize and its conservation stakeholders through efforts such as these.

PACT is a statutory body that was formally established in January 1996 with the passing of the Protected Areas Conservation Trust Act, No. 15 of 1995. The functions of PACT are to encourage and promote, for the benefit and enjoyment of the present and future generations of the people of Belize, the provision, protection, conservation, and enhancement of the natural and cultural resources of Belize. The PACT is managed by a Board of Directors that is comprised of Government agencies, nongovernment organizations, and individual experts.
