Background:

The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is a statutory organization established in 1996 as a Trust Fund under the Protected Areas Conservation Trust Act, Chapter 218 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2020. PACT contributes to the financing, sourced nationally and internationally, of the Belize National Protected Areas System – a system that is managed by Government Agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Community Based Organizations.

Position Description:

The Director of Programming (DP) is responsible to strategically oversee and direct effective workflows within PACT’s Programming Department to support the achievement of PACT’s strategic goals and objectives. The position is ultimately responsible for the programming frameworks of PACT, with primary responsibility for directing work functions of the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer and the Conservation Investment and Climate Finance Units to ensure that approved strategies and plans are delivered successfully. This is inclusive of directing all key planning and programming processes, including the design of the PACT M&E Framework, Conservation Investment Strategies and Climate Finance Work Plans, along with preparation of associated program budgets and stakeholder engagement plans. The DP is also responsible for managing the human resources of the Department. As a member of the senior management team, the DP will be frequently required to generate and provide clear, trusted advice to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on all Department matters. Overall, the post is responsible for the success of PACT’s core work programs. The DP must execute all duties with a high level of professionalism and discretion with a premium placed on confidentiality.

Core Competency Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Natural Resources Management, Climate Change, Project Management, or another
    relevant field.  
  • Minimum of ten (10) years related professional experience and
  • Previous managerial experience in a technical unit is required.
  • Previous experience in operational planning, budget planning, or management.  
  • Previous senior management experience is required.

Remuneration:

Compensation package commensurate with qualification and experience within a designated salary scale.
