Background:

The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is a statutory organization established in 1996 as a Trust Fund under the Protected Areas Conservation Trust Act, Chapter 218 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2020. PACT contributes to the financing, sourced nationally and internationally, of the Belize National Protected Areas System – a system that is managed by Government Agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Community Based Organizations.

Position Description:

The Director of Operations (DO) is responsible to strategically oversee effective operating procedures across PACT to support the achievement of PACT’s strategic goals and objectives. The position is ultimately responsible for the operational frameworks of PACT, with primary responsibility for assessing operations to make inferences about factors like communication, productivity, and risk management; and communicating with Executive Management to improve PACT’s operations. This is inclusive of directing all key administrative and operational functions, including general corporate services such as vendor management, logistics planning and coordination, asset procurement and management, contract management and information management. The DO is also responsible for managing the human resources of the Department. As a member of the senior management team, the DO will be frequently required to generate and provide clear, trusted advice to the Executive Director and Board of Directors on all financial and administrative matters. Overall, the post is responsible for PACT’s financial and operational well-being and stability. The DO must execute all duties with a high level of professionalism and discretion with a premium placed on confidentiality.

Core Competency Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Management, Public Sector Management, or another
    relevant field.  
  • Minimum of ten (10) years related professional experience and
  • Previous supervisory experience in an operations unit is required.
  • Previous experience in Administration, auditing, or financial management. 
  • Previous senior management experience is required.  

Remuneration:

Compensation package commensurate with qualification and experience within a designated salary scale.
