PACT secures Re-Accreditation to the Adaptation Fund
Belmopan, Belize, May 13, 2025 ─ The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is pleased to announce its successful re-accreditation as a National Implementing Entity (NIE) of the Adaptation Fund. The decision was taken during the 44th Meeting of the Adaptation Fund’s Board on April 11, 2025, which was followed by an official notification on May 7, 2025, informing PACT of the Board’s decision to re-accredit the national conservation trust fund for another five-year cycle.

This re-accreditation is a testament to the Adaptation Fund’s full confidence in PACT, as a leader in conservation and climate finance, and reflects PACT’s strong track record in fiduciary management during its 14-year relations with the Fund. As a NIE, PACT will continue to channel international financing to support local communities in building resilience to climate change.
Since its initial accreditation in September 2011 and re-accreditation in January 2019, PACT has mobilized BZ$18.3 million to support projects focused on building the adaptive capacity and resilience of communities to climate impacts in Belize. With BZ$10 million already in the pipeline, PACT now aims to mobilize an additional BZ$40 million in funding during this new accreditation cycle.
PACT extends its gratitude to its dedicated management and staff for their commitment to the rigorous process and for their adherence to the high standards of the Adaptation Fund’s Accreditation Panel. PACT also acknowledges the invaluable technical support of the Caribbean Community Climate Change Center, the Ministry of Economic Transformation─ Belize’s National Designated Authority to the Fund─ and all other past and present board members, staff and partners, for their unwavering support throughout the re-accreditation process.
The Adaptation Fund was established to finance projects and programs that aid vulnerable communities in developing countries in adapting to climate change impacts. Since its inception, the multilateral fund has committed US$1.25 billion for climate change adaptation and resilience projects and programs, benefiting 45.8 million people around the world.
