Emergency Relief Funding

PACT’s Emergency Relief Funding (ERF) window was established to address unforeseen, urgent situations that arise from disasters. Such emergencies include but are not limited to the following:

  • Wildfires
  • Floods
  • Hurricanes

Funding under this window may be used to assist with the following:

  • Replacement or repair of infrastructure and equipment
  • Procurement of new equipment and supplies
  • Capacity building and training for disaster risk reduction and management, and climate adaptation.

Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration for support through the ERF, non-profit or non-governmental organizations or associations MUST meet the following criteria:

  • Be in good standing;
  • Be involved in conservation management, promotion and/or development of natural resources;
  • Be involved with a specific protected area (i.e. national park, bird or wildlife sanctuary, forest or nature reserve) directly impacted by emergencies, resulting from disasters; and
  • Have an urgent need for relief.

Note: Government organizations may be considered subject to eligibility criteria.

Application Process

Entities requesting funding must submit an emergency relief request detailing the following:

  • Description of the Emergency: An overview of the event or crisis, including its impact on conservation goals and the requesting entity’s ability to continue operations.
  • Urgency & Impact Assessment: Clear explanation of the potential long-term damage if the situation is not addressed immediately.
  • Supporting Documentation:
    • Endorsement letter: A letter from NEMO or respective regulatory agency (NBIO, Forestry or Fisheries) to verify the necessity of relief funds. Where the requesting entity is the National Emergency Management Organization, an endorsement letter from the line Ministry will be required.
  • Certificate of Good Standing: Entities requesting ERF must submit their most recent Certificate of Good Standing (dated within the last 12 months)
  • Banking Information: Entities must have a valid bank account.

Note: Where the requesting entity has no history of receiving funds from PACT, an Organizational Assessment may be required, and this may extend the approval process.
