The A Ranger for a Day experience is open to students across Belize in Standards 4 to Second form. Selected participants will have the opportunity to shadow rangers at the Mayflower Bocawina National Park, learning firsthand about the vital role rangers play in managing protected areas and safeguarding Belize’s natural heritage.
Competition Launch
The activity officially opens on October 15, 2025, and will be promoted via PACT and APAMO’s social media platforms and email distribution lists.
Selection
Students will be invited to submit a short letter to PACT and APAMO explaining:
Their interest in being a ranger for a day;
What about nature inspires them; and
How they imagine helping the environment in the future.
Letters must be no longer than 500 words, with no more than 20% generated using AI tools. Submissions should be made via Google Form on or before November 12, 2025.
A panel of judges comprising representatives from PACT, APAMO, and a third party will review applications and select six students to participate. Parents/guardians of selected students will be contacted directly, after which the results will be announced on PACT and APAMO’s social media networks.

Dear Selection Committee,
My name is Loriaya Faber, and I am a Standard 5 student at All Saints Anglican School. I am writing to apply for the Ranger for a Day experience at the Mayflower Bocawina National Park. I would be very excited and grateful for the chance to learn how rangers protect our forests and wildlife.
Nature inspires me because it is full of life, color, and peace. I love seeing trees, rivers, and animals, and I know they all play an important part in keeping our world healthy. Being a ranger for a day would help me understand how to care for them even more.
In the future, I plan to help the environment by planting trees, keeping my surroundings clean, and encouraging others to take care of nature. I believe that small actions can make a big difference.
Thank you for considering my application. I would be honored to join this adventure and learn how to protect Belize’s beautiful environment.
