The Protected Areas Conservation Trust (PACT) is a statutory organization established in 1996 as a Trust Fund under the Protected Areas Conservation Trust Act, No.15 of 1995. PACT contributes to the financing, sourced nationally and internationally, of the Belize National Protected Areas System – a system that is managed by Government Agencies, Non-Governmental Organizations, and Community Based Organizations. Further, PACT is under the oversight of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, the Environment, Sustainable Development, and Immigration, and is governed by a Board of Directors.

Position Description:
The Conservation Programme Officer (CPO) is primarily responsible for the promotion, development and management of PACT’s portfolio of internally and externally funded projects as assigned. The CPO is responsible for liaising with potential and existing grantee organizations, the initial technical reviews of proposals, Expressions of Interest and concept papers, providing technical recommendations for project design improvements, undertaking regular project monitoring to ensure project implementation success and executing and coordinating internal and external project evaluations.

Professional Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Resources Management or Biological Sciences;
• 5 or more years of related work experience in management of conservation and/or natural resources projects;
• Strong knowledge of conservation and/or natural resources issues; and
• Strong knowledge of protected areas policy and management regimes.

Remuneration and Applications:

Compensation package commensurate with qualification and work experience within a designated salary scale.

Position Description:
The Administrative Assistant (AA) role is to undertake and provide effective administrative and operational support services including office management tasks, logistics, secretarial/clerical services, meeting support and administrative support. The AA is also responsible for organizing and assisting in organizing meetings, travel arrangements, editing and formatting official documents, and any other clerical and administrative tasks in support of the Human Resources and Administration Manager and all departments within PACT. Further, the AA manages any information technology internal requests and channels to the service provider for prompt response and effectively covers the reception area daily.

Professional Requirements:
• Associate Degree in Business Administration or Management;
• At least five (5) years of related work experience;
• Basic knowledge of office administration (particularly office procedures and practices);
• Strong oral and written communication skills;
• Strong organizational and coordination skills.

“Images of Belize’s Protected Areas” 2020 Calendar Call for Photos

“Images of Belize’s Protected Areas” 2020 Calendar Call for Photos

We know photographers form a visual bond with nature and wild spaces, and they help translate that bond into their photos that further inspire the rest of us to visit and care for these special places.

PACT, therefore, invites professional and amateur photographers to submit photographs of their favorite protected areas, highlighting the diverse landscapes, adventure, biodiversity and culture endemic to these wild spaces. Thirteen photographs will be chosen for the 2020 calendar.

Deadline for submissions is November 18, 2019 (3:00pm BZ Time)

Submission details: 
• Photos must be submitted electronically and be high resolution (at least 300 dpi on 8X10);
• Photographs must be submitted by the original photographer along with his/her contact information. Submissions should be send in JPEG and in RAW Format.
• Photos should be accompanied by a write up (between 50-150 words) describing the photo and location.
• A maximum of 3 submissions per entity (person/organization) are permitted.
• Submitted images will remain the property of the photographers, but permission is granted to the Protected Areas Conservation Trust to use them for the calendar purposes, including marketing and social media. PACT further reserves the right to edit submissions as necessary for general distribution.
• The photographer will be credited and will also receive a copy of printed material and an attractive prize.
• The photo release form must accompany your submission.
• We only notify the photographers whose contributions are selected for publication.

All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrant must be the sole copyright owner of all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries (or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured). Further, the entrant must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.

Images will be judged on artistic merit, originality, subject and style.

PACT ENFORCEMENT INCENTIVE AWARD PROGRAM 2019

Register Now for PACT’s Enforcement Award Program 2019!

 

The PACT Incentive Award Program is designed to recognize rangers for the efforts within conservation and to award co-managers that have made vast improvements, internally and within protected areas
management. 

The winning ranger team will receive a BZ$5,000 cash prize to be distributed equally among team members.

The associated NGO will be awarded a BZ$20,000 cash prize to support the mission of the organization.

In addition, the rangers from the winning NGO will be prioritized to receive capacity development
opportunities under PACT’s Capacity Development Program.

Registration is now open.  

Deadline for Submission of Applications is November 4, 2019.
